Marcelo Barros, is from Brazil and these are his exact words
Hello and welcome to NokiaMobileTalk Marcelo, its great having you here.
Tell us a little bit about your background and what lead you to start developing Symbian applications
I am an electrical engineer that spent a long time to decide if I wanted to become a university professor or a R&D engineer. While this decision was not taken, I got masters and doctorate degrees and worked for two years developing products for industry automation. At the end of this period, I decided to continue as R&D engineer, an exciting career with many opportunities to create. However, even being a C programmer for a long time (standard language for embedded systems), I never did any application for Symbian phones until 2008. In fact, I have been learning Python in the last two years and when I saw how Python is powerful for Nokia phones, I decided to learn Python for S60 and put together two passions: smartphones and Python. By the way, In my life I like to use the strategy “learn by projects” and Wordmobi was this project.
Can you explain how you use your own application for our readers? Any favorite practices?
I need to admit: I have create Wordmobi for my own use and several features that you see on it just reflects my preferences. Of course I have learning with my users and some features came from their requests. In special, I like to support multiple accounts. It is essential for me (I have three blogs to keep…). I think the persistence is other essential feature, it implements the “Keeping blogging” phrase since you can write anywhere and publish when connection is available. Finally, I love the twitter support and comments approving.

How much time did it take to develop your application, as far as coding the actual application and what programming language was used.
Wordmobi is developed using Python and first drafts started six months ago. Wordmobi had three big “restarts”, with a complete new code since the begining of the year. As I program only at nights and weekends, it is difficult to me to say the amount of efforts I have put in Wordmobi. In my opinion, it is about a month.
What are your favorite Symbian applications? Can you list your top 5
Just five ? hum….

Are you joining the Symbian Foundation? And What are your thoughts on the future of the Symbian Foundation.
No, as I am not a “official” mobile developer.
