The Classic Black E63 recently made its debut in the Nokia Europe site. It sports its big brother’s good looks(E71) with a plethora of features, I know some diehard Nokia fans will not consider this phone but there is a huge consumer market out there for a phone with these specs.
Let’s take a look at the original Nokia message for this phone
- Inspired by Messaging
- Stay Connected
- Share Online
Can a case be made for this phone let’s see?
1. Inspired by Messaging – this phone is as capable as any other Nokia for doing just this. Texting is easier on this phone than on the E71 due to the keys being slightly bigger, so that’s a plus. Applications like the Nokia Messaging, Profimail, work like a charm
2. Stay Connected – its got Bluetooth, its got Wifi, its got 3G(on AT&T its a great experience) Applications like Gravity, Twittix, Tweet60, and Twibble all work like a charm so you can get your Tweet on. Let’s not forget Nimbuzz to chat to your heart’s content also works amazingly on this device
3. Share Online - Share on Ovi, Pixelpipe, Shozu all work well
So it seems like Nokia’s promise comes true on this device, and in fact does give a nice user experience even though the camera is not its main attraction, but nonetheless its a camera good enough to snap a pic, so its only malady is a 2 megapixel, so “what are you gonna do” as Tony Soprano would say.
I believe this phone will fill in a nice market niche here in the U.S. for consumers who are looking for a complete mobile messaging solution wrapped up with a small price tag, so I definitely recommend this phone.
Features that stand out in my opinion
- S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1
- 3G
- WiFi
- Standard 3.5mm audio port
- BP-4L 1500 mAh Li-Po standard battery(energizer bunny here)
- microSD memory card slot, hot swappable, max. 8 GB(sync to itunes for the ultimate music experience)
