Although Nokia Messaging graduated from Nokia Beta Labs, be aware that this is not a new updated version, David Fields, product manager for NM, states in the actual comments that the updated version based on user feedback is coming later on this summer. I actually uninstalled it from the XM 5800 yesterday, it kept giving me Memory Full errors, so guess what, back to Profimail which as usual never disappoints and by the way its rock solid on the XM 5800

Today we announce that the 5800 Nokia Messaging client is available through email.nokia.com. As I noted when we put this client on betalabs, “We are putting this client out to begin to gather feedback for the next version of the S60 5.0 client: don’t expect changes between this client and the final release for everyone in May”. The main thing we’ve done since putting this online is translating it into twenty more languages and fixing a few small bugs, and we’re already well underway working on the next release.
We have taken all of your feedback into account for the next version of the client which is coming this summer. One of the biggest requests is for HTML, and I’m happy to say that we’ll be bringing that to you. Another is homescreen integration – you’ve probably noticed that the 5800 does not have the traditional S60 home screen for integration that Nokia Messaging traditionally uses. Trust me – we understand the importance of email notification, and are working with the device team in order to deliver you better notification. Support for APN Destinations is another request we’ve seen that we’re working on, and there’s been a lot of really smart suggestions regarding the interface that we’re taking into account. Finally, we also hear you regarding refining the touch control and scrolling within the email client.
The reason we put this prerelease out was to get your feedback, and we’ve heard it loud and clear. We have seen a very positive response to this client and we have been especially pleased how many people signed up through Beta Labs. I want to thank you profusely for both your comments and complaints about Nokia Messaging – they help us to make a better product.
