The internal memory on S60 phones is a very precious item. We are always looking for memory thieves to make room for our precious data.
The four tips I’m gonna give bellow are very small, but also very useful to reduce the memory waste on our devices.
1) Clean the browser cache.
This is the very first idea we have when think in save space. This is right, the web browser cache is a big memory eater. You can clean the cache by selecting this option on web browser application or, the better way, by erasing all files on “c:cache” folder. You can erase the files using your favorite file browser. I use the Y-Browser, which is freeware and very nice.
2) Save all bluetooth received files on memory card and delete the message.
When you receive a file via bluetooth transfer, it’s stored initially on Inbox which is located on internal memory. The best thing you can do is save the file on memory card and delete the message from Inbox. This will save the space used by this file.
3) Keep you e-mail boxes small
Also on Messages, there are the e-mail boxes. I have 4 e-mail accounts configured on my N82. Each account creates an Inbox to save its messages. These boxes are also stored on internal memory. One good habit is to delete the e-mail on phone (not on server) when you have read it.
4) Keep your media files on memory card
Move your ringtones to memory card and make the same thing with videos and pictures. This will save a lot of space on your internal memory. The same rule is valid to themes. Install them on memory card, instead of internal memory.
So if you’re having memory problems, this list maybe for you, try some of them and let us know how it works out.
