Interview Babi from Babinokia

I’m particulary proud to have scored this interview, we’ve all revelved in the theme luxuries with our s60 Nokia’s and hopefully at some time in your Nokia journey you’ve had the pleasure of using one of Babi’s theme. Babi, is without a doubt one of the world premiere themers joining others like PiZero and off course our very own Tehk7. Babi needs little introduction because his work simply speaks for itself and it speaks quiete loudly. Without further ado, NMT is proud to present to you Babi.

Keep in mind that English is not Babi’s native language but who cares Babi speaks the international language of graphic and I’m sure we can all appreciate this better.

Tell us a little bit about your background and what lead you to start developing Symbian themes?

My first experience with theme was with my old 6600 .. but I did just a couple of thmes, and not too beautiful … Then I bought a n80 ..and no one did themes for 3rd edition .. For this reason I decided to make someone … I often like to change theme on my phone …
This is the beginning of the story … Then I got to know many friends who helped me in so many ways .. first of all P @ sco, then bandez, Giambi. And then all the friends of nokioteca.net who always encouraged and supported me till now .. About three years ago I decided to open my site babinokia .. but the real intention was only to avoid having to upload themes on some files sharig site ..

How much time did it take to develop your themes, as far as coding the actual theme and which programming language was used?

I’m using Nokia Carbide.ui 3.4, It takes a lot of patience but is a program that everyone can use…. For a theme sometimes I spend some days.. sometimes more, sometimes less … even the simplest theme sometimes takes a long time, I must test it many times .. and then usually do different versions for different types of phone (fp1 & fp2, Eseries, 5th edition). In addition you the need to add time to create a iconpack which usually takes several months, and must be updated continuously

Can you share for our readers what developing is on the horizon especially with these new devices coming soon?

I have recently started to create themes for 5th edition .. Now I am studying the n97 .. but it will take some time because every time nokia adds something new and is not so easy… and my free time for works on themes is always short unfortunately.

What are your favorite Symbian applications can you list your top 5 and why you like them?

The first is Guardian (by Marco Bellino) it’s an essential program for those who want to protect his phone.

Slick (by Lonely Cat Games) I think is the best, very simple and light for msn and Xplore

What’s your favorite theme from your collection?

Only one? I love too much sheet ad Mah .. but also many others like Winjamer, Venus and Leopard Inspired

What are your thoughts on the future of Nokia and the newly created Symbian Foundation?

I love nokia, I have always had nokia phones but recently I think nokia is not doing a lot of new things … It should cure most of the materials as others do.

What are you favorite Themers can you list your top 3 or top 5 ?

I love all themers that make original works…

What advice can you give to new developers/themers?

The advice that I can give is to always try to be original, not to copy things already seen. Lately there have been several “stolen” in this sense. A job well done also not perfect is always better and gives more satisfied

nokia 6600, n80, n95 8gb and now 5800

The Nokia Ovi Store is out are you planning to submit your themes or wallpapers there as well.

I don’t think… I don’t sell my themes, and Ovi don’t make things easier for those who only want to share free themes

What are your two favorite Nokia smartphone of all time and which Nokia smartphone are looking forward to use?

One of the best I think is n95 8gb.. but now I’m in love with my 5800… and I don’t see nothing better for the moment

What is your favorite color, movie, music band, and sport?

I like black … but also the contrasts between different colors… the movie? .. Dead Poets Society

I hear all the good music, without special preferences . Sport only Football (forza Milan)
