Blogging has become a viral event all over the world, a new blog is created every few minutes. Among the some of the majors providers are Blogger, Drupal, Typepad, Joomla, and my favorite off course, Wordpress. So how do we blog with our S60 Smartphones, well, all the major blogging services support blogging via email and still some of them even have mobile web versions but none of the aforementioned options are as good and offer a complete blogging experience as Worbmobi.
Wordmobi is written in Python by Marcelo Barros which we interviewed recently here.
So its written in Python, what does this mean exactly some may ask yourselves which is a very valid question, since we see the term Python thrown around quite often. Well, Python is a native Symbian programming language which allows developers to produce native applications to run on our beloved smartphones(Nokia’s link for further reading: click here). So since Wordmobi is written in Python, the first we have to do is install Python.
Currently there are two version of Python: PythonForS60 1.4.5 and PythonForS60 1.9.2
PythonForS60 1.4.5 supports devices like the N95 8gb and the E71, while PythonForS60 1.9.2 supports FP2 devices like the Nokia XM 5800 and the eventual N97. At the present moment Marcelo is doing intensive testing to have the XM 5800 fully workable with PythonForS60 1.9.2(you can read about this here).
Download version 1.4.5 here
Download version 1.9.2 here
So once you download the Python component, we’re ready to download and install Wordmobi.
