As I mentioned the other day, Tommi Laukkanen was developing a GTD application to run on all Nokia phones, well guess what, its released.
Mobile Task Manager is a GTD tool for your mobile phone. You can store your actions, todo items, references, grocery lists, etc. in the application. Items can have notes for details and user can mark certain items as favorite. You can also create hierarchies with folder structures. You can easily purge completed items from memory (handy especially with grocery lists).
Application is written in Java so it runs on millions of phones that support MIDP 2.0 and CLDC 1.1.
I got good feature ideas from Jorge Ledesma who is a blogger at NokiaMobileTalk.com. The current set of features include:
- Create actions
- Edit actions (with 3 key)
- Mark action as done (with fire key)
- Purge done items
- Create folders
- You can add notes to actions (with 9 key)
- You can rearrange the actions (with left/right keys)
- Mark action as favorite (with 7 key)
- Backup actions to CSV file
Well, what are you waiting for, jump to the Mobile Task Manager page and download.
Thanks Tommi for mentioning me in your site
Nokia phones may not have as many applications as the iphone, but as a mobile phone they are far better.

If it cannot sync to other applications – those running on PCs, Macs or on the cloud, then this is a non-starter for me. I GTD everywhere and need a robust and reliable solution with redundancy and backup. My Nokia E71 has spontaneously reformatted its memory card, required multiple resets while on the road, and runs on an OS which has no native support even for categories. If an app doesn't address these shortcomings, it can never be a trusted GTD solution for a Symbian device.
yeah I know what you mean, its a simple solution but it works nonetheless, you know GTD is a very individual beast and for me simplicity works, I've been doing GTD for years now perhaps 7-8 and I've tried everything you can name and this application although simple has it merits but I understand your point. I'll be doing a podcast soon on my GTD setup with MS Docs on my E71 soon, stay tuned.
