Well after 1.5 days with the N97 I must say the battery life is indeed pretty amazing, although not quite like the other units that share the same battery like the Nokia E71, Nokia E63, and the Nokia E90 but it certainly does very well for an Nseries device loaded with power hungry widgets and a touch screen.
I charged the unit last night for 5 hours and I’ve been using it today with several widgets loaded and heavy picture usage, tons of web surfing, several 2-3 minute videos, tons of Twitter via Gravity and still at the time of this writing I have 3 bars left and I almost forgot about 2 hours worth of phone calls 10-15 sms,so definitely its not slouch and it certainly has enough juice to do many things throughout the day.

Yes, as you said is pretty amazing, but I think the industry came to a halt concerning battery life. We've got to the point where if a phone gets through the day is considered ok.
I own a Nokia E71 now and for the first few days of extremely heavy usage I got an average of two days per charge. Now, after I've settled down a little I get around 4 days per charge. That's more like it, but 1 day per charge is not ok. At least that's what I'm thinking.
ah c'mon John, you want more than a day on an N97, I also have an e71 and I get about 1.5 days of heavy heavy heavy usage so I think that is ok, if I lived in the Amazon Jungle then yeah I would want more days but most of us have access to charge our smartphones lol
