Review : iON Battery Timer

A common complaint by most Symbian Powerusers is that the battery indicator s extremely inaccurate. In my own case , the battery indicater jumps form full to 3/4 and then straigh to the last bar. iON Battery Timer by Capree Softwares is set to change that.

On installing the app, you are asked to wait for atleast 3-5 complete charge-discharge cycles before expecting proper results. True to that , the software refuses to display any result till atleast one complete charge cycle takes place.

After having subjected the application to about 3 complete cycles , i can say that it truely does seem to be giving quite accurate results. It shows that my cell-phone lasts about 8 hours on an average and that is more or less correct.

The core application could definitely do with some additions like including graphs to show battery drainage based on applications or time of the day. Currently , sadly the main application does not show much of data other than ‘Remaining Battery Life’ and ‘Average Life’

Where the application does shine however is in its standby plugin and power saver integration. As you can see, having a percentage and time based battery display on the standby is extremely useful. The screensaver based battery notification is even more helpful.

Imagine a situation where you need to save battery life for an important phone call and dont want to drain the battery. Where the integrated indicator would have failed to show accurate results , the iON Battery Timer shines.

One feature that i would definitely like to be included in the next update is the ability to shut off certain applications based on the amount of power remaining.

I would rate this application 3.5/5

Pros :

1. Accurate Battery Display
2. Standby Integration
3. Power Saver Support

Cons :

1.Lack of options to view data in multiple ways
2.Inability to shut-down certain pre-selected apps based on power remaining.
