Evernote for the Nokia N900

Its no secret to any of my regular readers that Evernote is one of my favorite applications and cruising the Maemo N900 site I bumped into this great application which is being ported over to the N900 and boy was I happy. I’ve always said that applications are at the core of end users and newbies alike and that’s where Maemo and the N900 will shine.

Features

Evernote makes it easy to remember things big and small from your life using your Nokia N900. Chances are, if you can see it or think of it, Evernote can help you remember it. Type a text note. Clip a web page. Snap a photo. Grab a screenshot. Evernote will keep it all safe. Evernote is fully integrated into the N900 allowing you to take notes and snapshots and then easily send them into Evernote. Do this by using the ‘Share via Service’ option found in most applications.

Everything you capture is automatically processed, indexed, and made searchable. If you like, you can add tags or organize notes into different notebooks. Search for notes by keywords, titles, and tags. Evernote magically makes printed and handwritten text inside your images searchable, too.

Doesn’t that screen just look so inviting

So keep your RSS list tuned like a guitar because this app is coming to a Maemo N900 near you real soon. I can hardly wait myself.

And what about text notes? I'm using Evernote too, but I don't want that Share option, I want an app like I'm using it on the iPhone…!?

Yeah that would be great but its coming you'll see

Shoot me, now. Maemo gets an Evernote app, but Symbian phones are still left using Evernote's mobile web site or hoping Evernote will continue to offer their IMAP connection. . .

I'm not feeling the love, from Evernote.

Tell me about, I don't know but I think we'll never see a symbian app,
that's why Maemo will be great

I agree. People have been begging for a Symbian option for a very long time. And now Maemo 5 comes along, that gets the love. A brand new platform with only a single device running it. Symbian S60 devices number in their hundreds of millions (if not more) and have been available for substantially longer across substantially larger target markets, and still get ignored.

Because of this one piece of news, I terminated my subscription and went back to a free account. If I wanted to be ignored, I'd post on blogs…

    Oh, wait …

So, apart from the photo application, what else can I share with Evernote from my N900. Doesn't seem to be able to share notes, or emails or web pages. So precisely what is the use of this?
