<p>This years MWC did not have any new Nokia devices to flaunt instead we now have Meego. What&#8217;s Meego you may ask yourselves? Meego is simply a &#8220;hybrid version of Nokia&#8217;s Maemo OS and Intel&#8217;s Moblin. This platform will be used to power the smartphones of tomorrow and will also be powerful enough to be used on Netbooks.&#8221; Will it be successful, who knows but I suppose this the death of regular Maemo as we know it then. Will the N900 be fully compatible with Meego, well we just have to wait and see but for now I suppose developers are going crazy. One day Maemo now Meegoo, what&#8217;s next Nokia MeegooSymb lol.</p>

<p>Recently Nokia updated the N900 to the so-called &#8220;42-11&#8243; firmware. As before, the kernel version is 2.6.28 compiled for OMAP (ARMEL). It seems that Nokia has done some great improvements in power saving to this kernel. There were also a few software upgrades included in this new firmware, however on my review unit there are still some things that hopefully will be working soon on the units that are shipping.</p>
<p>The battery life has been extended quite a bit, and to my surprise the N900 battery seems to be outlasting my N810 (with a 1500mAh battery versus the N900&#8242;s 1350mAh). With this upgrade to battery life, Nokia has one more thing to show off to it&#8217;s competitors.</p>
<p>There have also been a few improvements <img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-6787" title="N900 Album Art" src="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/N900-Album-Art-300x180.png" alt="N900 Album Art" width="240" height="144" />to various software applications, most notably Media Player. Now when browsing your albums, you&#8217;re greeted with the album art instead of just the album name.</p>
<p>One of the things I&#8217;ve been hoping to see before I have to turn in my review unit, is USB-OTG host mode. However the software that was written to make this possible, has not yet been ported (successfully) to the N900. One of the things that makes the Maemo platform (and Linux in general) so successful is that most of the software written for it is open source. That allows developers to look at and use the programming code from similar programs. Doing so means that development work happens relatively quickly since programmers don&#8217;t have to start from scratch each time they create a new application. Once the N900 is available to the mass market, I expect there to be an explosion of applications.</p>

<p>Its no secret to any of my regular readers that Evernote is one of my favorite applications and cruising the Maemo N900 site I bumped into this great application which is being ported over to the <a title="N900" href="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/2009/08/6-n900/">N900</a> and boy was I happy. I’ve always said that applications are at the core of end users and newbies alike and that’s where Maemo and the N900 will shine.</p>
<p><span id="more-6481"></span></p>
<p>Features</p>
<blockquote><p>Evernote makes it easy to remember things big and small from your life using your Nokia N900. Chances are, if you can see it or think of it, Evernote can help you remember it. Type a text note. Clip a web page. Snap a photo. Grab a screenshot. Evernote will keep it all safe. Evernote is fully integrated into the N900 allowing you to take notes and snapshots and then easily send them into Evernote. Do this by using the ‘Share via Service’ option found in most applications.</p>
<p>Everything you capture is automatically processed, indexed, and made searchable. If you like, you can add tags or organize notes into different notebooks. Search for notes by keywords, titles, and tags. Evernote magically makes printed and handwritten text inside your images searchable, too.</p></blockquote>
<p><a href="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/EvernoteNoteList500x300.png"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="EvernoteNoteList-500x300" src="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/EvernoteNoteList500x300_thumb.png" border="0" alt="EvernoteNoteList-500x300" width="504" height="304" /></a></p>
<p>Doesn’t that screen just look so inviting</p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/evernotescreenshot05500x300.png"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="evernote-screenshot05-500x300" src="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/evernotescreenshot05500x300_thumb.png" border="0" alt="evernote-screenshot05-500x300" width="504" height="304" /></a></p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/EvernoteWelcomeNote500x300.png"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="EvernoteWelcomeNote-500x300" src="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/EvernoteWelcomeNote500x300_thumb.png" border="0" alt="EvernoteWelcomeNote-500x300" width="504" height="304" /></a></p>
<p>So keep your RSS list tuned like a guitar because this app is coming to a Maemo N900 near you real soon. I can hardly wait myself.</p>

		</div>
<p>Its incredible to see the capabilities of this new Maemo5 photo application which the Nokia N900 so beautifully sports. Let’s take a closer look.</p>
<p><span id="more-6374"></span></p>
<p>Notice how clean and organized this new layout is and how easy it is to organize your pictures.</p>
<h4>Organise your pictures</h4>
<p>Add tags to bring context to your photos and to quickly find them later. Your images automatically show where and when they were taken, and you can add your own description tags to make searching even easier.</p>
<p>Improve the way your images look with post-capture tools such as <strong>cropping</strong>, <strong>resizing</strong>, <strong>red eye removal</strong>, and <strong>contrast adjustment</strong>. With a quick retouch you can bring out the best in your photos.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/photoscropping.jpg"><img style="border-width: 0px; display: inline;" title="photos-cropping" src="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/photoscropping_thumb.jpg" border="0" alt="photos-cropping" width="285" height="203" /></a></p>
<p>What Red Eye, where its gone on the N900</p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/photosadjustingredeyeremoval.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="photos-adjusting-red-eye-removal" src="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/photosadjustingredeyeremoval_thumb.jpg" border="0" alt="photos-adjusting-red-eye-removal" width="335" height="216" /></a></p>
<p>Save time when you share your photos by reducing the size of a file. Make a few final adjustments before attaching to an email or uploading to the web.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/photosadjustingcontrast.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="photos-adjusting-contrast" src="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/photosadjustingcontrast_thumb.jpg" border="0" alt="photos-adjusting-contrast" width="293" height="220" /></a></p>
<p>Resizing Images on the Go, how amazing is that ah !!</p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/photosadjustingresize.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="photos-adjusting-resize" src="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/photosadjustingresize_thumb.jpg" border="0" alt="photos-adjusting-resize" width="338" height="218" /></a></p>
<p>Isn’t this amazing having the ability to do all these adjustments, its awesome, right now on my N95 8GB I upload to <strong>Flickr</strong> and use <strong>Picnik</strong> to do any adjustment but with the N900 its a breeze.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/photossharing.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="photos-sharing" src="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/photossharing_thumb.jpg" border="0" alt="photos-sharing" width="289" height="159" /></a></p>
<p>Upload one or more pictures directly to Ovi Share and Flickr to share with friends, family, or the rest of the world. Tap the display to attach multiple photos to an email, or send wirelessly via a Bluetooth connection</p>
<p>For me this option is absolutely amazing, which means I won’t have the total dependence on Shozu to upload with N900 its a direct process no 3rd party middle to handle my photo uploads, Sweet.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/photossharingwebjpg.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="photos-sharing-webjpg" src="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/photossharingwebjpg_thumb.jpg" border="0" alt="photos-sharing-webjpg" width="289" height="217" /></a></p>
<p>Upload your favourite photos directly to Ovi Share or Flickr with a few taps of the screen. Or send images to the upload queue to be posted automatically when you access a fast WLAN connection.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/photostaggingsearch.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="photos-tagging-search" src="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/photostaggingsearch_thumb.jpg" border="0" alt="photos-tagging-search" width="308" height="226" /></a></p>
<p>Great pictures shouldn’t just sit in your collection. They should be shared with the people in your life. Browse the tag cloud for your most popular tags and instantly find the picture you’re looking for.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/photostagginggeotagging.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="photos-tagging-geotagging" src="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/photostagginggeotagging_thumb.jpg" border="0" alt="photos-tagging-geotagging" width="301" height="218" /></a></p>
<p>And you’re not restricted to sharing only one picture at a time. Store your whole photo collection on the large internal memory, and attach multiple images to an email or transfer via a wireless Bluetooth connection.</p>
<p>Well as you can see I’m super excited to own this device and finally have the true Mobile Internet Device</p>
