<p>Returning back to Nokia full time has been pretty smooth for the most part. I installed all my main apps ie. Gravity, Snaptu, setup ShareOnline with my Pixelpipe credentials and a few other basic apps but when it came down to Nokia Messaging and Profimail I had a slight hiccup with the aforementioned apps recognizing my main gmail credentials.</p>
<p>I must have entered my password at least three or four times but Nokia Messaging on the web side did not alert me to any kind off error besides not accepting the password. Like a little mobile chap that I am, I always have a back up and that’s Profimail which is a rock solid application I’m sure many of you know already. Well, leave it to Profimail to give me an error. Well, so I Google the error and came up with this.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.mydigitallife.info/2008/11/05/fix-gmail-imap-invalid-credentials-or-web-login-requires-failure-error/">Fix Gmail IMAP Invalid Credentials or Web Login Requires (Failure) Error</a></p>
<p>1. First you must sign in on the web to your gmail account and then hit this link</p>
<p><a title="http://bit.ly/c8MVp1" href="http://bit.ly/c8MVp1">http://bit.ly/c8MVp1</a></p>
<p>2. Once you Uncaptcha your Gmail account, login into Nokia Messaging on the Web and setup your email and it should accept it with no problem and do the same in Profimail and boom your done, your email should begin to work in a few seconds or minute.</p>

		</div>
<p>Opera Mobile 10 Beta has stormed into our Symbian world providing us an amazing user experience but recent reports on the N97 are not so favorable due to the low memory effects but here is a tweak that could be used to manually configure OM to give you a little extra notch.</p>
<p><span id="more-6406"></span></p>
<p>On the url box type <strong>opera:config</strong></p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/image001.png"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="image001" src="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/image001_thumb.png" border="0" alt="image001" width="364" height="644" /></a></p>
<p>Now Opera Mobile will open some wonderful hidden screens. Here you have lots of configuration options, there are two of special interest; the first one is “disk cache” under this one you will find an option called “size” changing this from the default 4096 to 2048 seems to have a positive impact in N97´s memory usage:</p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/image002.png"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="image002" src="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/image002_thumb.png" border="0" alt="image002" width="364" height="644" /></a></p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/image003.png"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="image003" src="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/image003_thumb.png" border="0" alt="image003" width="364" height="644" /></a></p>
<p>Change it to 2048 from the standard default</p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/image004.png"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="image004" src="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/image004_thumb.png" border="0" alt="image004" width="364" height="644" /></a></p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/image005.png"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="image005" src="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/image005_thumb.png" border="0" alt="image005" width="364" height="644" /></a></p>
<p>Now go on and type opera:drives and you’ll see you’ll be able to use Opera Mobile 10 Beta as kind off a bare bones utility task manager.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/image006.png"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="image006" src="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/image006_thumb1.png" border="0" alt="image006" width="364" height="644" /></a></p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/image007.png"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="image007" src="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/image007_thumb.png" border="0" alt="image007" width="364" height="644" /></a></p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/image008.png"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="image008" src="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/image008_thumb.png" border="0" alt="image008" width="364" height="644" /></a></p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/image009.png"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="image009" src="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/image009_thumb.png" border="0" alt="image009" width="364" height="644" /></a></p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/image010.png"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="image010" src="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/image010_thumb.png" border="0" alt="image010" width="364" height="644" /></a></p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/image011.png"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="image011" src="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/image011_thumb.png" border="0" alt="image011" width="364" height="644" /></a></p>
<p>Again you can try these settings on any S60 device but they&#8217;ll have a higher mileage on the s60v5</p>
<p>special thanks to <a href="http://www.twitter.com/juanmateo" target="_blank">@juanmateo</a> for submitting this great tip</p>

<p>On this post, we’re going to talk about Nokia’s mostly unknown menu codes.</p>
<p><span id="more-432"></span></p>
<p>Most people don’t know about these codes because most of them are not even listed in your Nokia device’s Manual.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Nokia_Code.jpg"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px" title="Nokia_Code" src="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Nokia_Code_thumb.jpg" border="0" alt="Nokia_Code" width="154" height="154" /></a></p>
<p>To use these codes, you have to go to your Nokia Symbian Device’s standby home screen and dial it in (as if you’d dial a normal number).</p>
<p>They come in very helpful at certain times, <strong>so here there are</strong>.</p>
<p>*#06#</p>
<p>This displays your International Mobile Equipment Identity (or IMEI for short) number of your device. Every device has a unique IMEI number and this can come in useful if you’re phone is stolen and you wish to block it, or if you’re phone’s IMEI is linked to a Nokia service such as N-gage and you wish to unlink it.</p>
<p>*#0000#</p>
<p>This display the firmware version and date of the firmware, of your device. If your firmware version is really old, you should check Nokia Software Updater (NSU) to see if there’s a newer firmware available for your device.</p>
<p>*#bta0# (that is *#2820#)</p>
<p>This displays the Bluetooth MAC address of your device. You must activate bluetooth before typing this code in. I’m not entirely sure when this code comes in useful though.</p>
<p>*#mac0wlan# (that is *#62209526)</p>
<p>This displays the WLAN MAC address (or WiFi Mac Address) of your device. This comes in handy if your WiFi service provider requires your MAC address and you wish to use your device with it.</p>
<p>*#res0# (that is *#7370#)</p>
<p>This code soft-formats the phone memory. All data on your phone memory will be erased. It will ask you for confirmation before going ahead with the process.</p>
<p>*#rst0# (that is *#7780#)</p>
<p>This code resets your device to factory settings. It will ask you for confirmation before going ahead with the process.</p>
<p>*#war0anty# (that is *#92702689#)</p>
<p>This displays the Life Timer of your device. The Life Timer tells you how long your device has been used, which can come in useful if you’re buying a new phone and want to check if its used or not.</p>
<p>Thats about it ! There are also some other codes which do not work on Nokia Symbian phones, so I’ve not included them in the list. If you find or know any new codes that I’ve missed out, do let me know in the comments section and I’ll add it here so make sure you keep this handy list available on your <a href="http://www.dialaphone.co.uk/">mobile phones</a>.</p>
<p>Hope this helps !</p>
<p>But remember we now have an app called <a href="http://www.nokia-tips.com/2009/08/11/find-all-your-basic-information-on-your-phone-with-a-free-app/" target="_blank">PhoneNetInfo</a> that solves most of these little nuances as well.</p>

<p>Since we love our devices so much and they got a lot of usage, here are 10 tips to stretch your battery power to the max when we most need it in emergency situation.</p>
<p><span id="more-7198"></span></p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0080.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="Screenshot0080" src="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0080_thumb.jpg" border="0" alt="Screenshot0080" width="244" height="324" /></a></p>
<p class="alert">These are so good folks especially if you&#8217;re new to Symbian</p>
<blockquote><p>Ok, let me explain why post can be a life saver. There are times when one has use the phone all day and the battery is off course suffering from the heavy day usage but you still need to get that call or that email that is really important and this is when these tips will come in handy to stretch out the battery to the max so you&#8217;re able to get that important communication.</p></blockquote>
<p>1. Set your screen brightness to Minimum.</p>
<p>One of the things that takes up the most power in your device is the screen. The N95 had a massive screen and a battery that wasnt powerful enough to cope with it. The N95-8Gb solved this with a more powerful battery but with an even larger screen. The N82 screen is pretty modest in comparison so it doesnt take that much power, but the N82’s battery is also much smaller than the N95.<br />
Turning down your screen brightness is always a good starting point in trying to save battery power because the more brighter your screen, the more power is needed to keep it that bright.</p>
<p>To turn down your screen brightness go to your menu by pressing your menu button:</p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0081.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="Screenshot0081" src="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0081_thumb.jpg" border="0" alt="Screenshot0081" width="244" height="324" /></a></p>
<p>Go to the Tools folder and then open settings :</p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0082.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="Screenshot0082" src="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0082_thumb.jpg" border="0" alt="Screenshot0082" width="244" height="324" /></a></p>
<p>Under settings go to General :</p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0083.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="Screenshot0083" src="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0083_thumb.jpg" border="0" alt="Screenshot0083" width="244" height="324" /></a></p>
<p>Then select Personalisation :</p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0084.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="Screenshot0084" src="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0084_thumb.jpg" border="0" alt="Screenshot0084" width="244" height="324" /></a></p>
<p>Then select Display :</p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0085.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="Screenshot0085" src="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0085_thumb.jpg" border="0" alt="Screenshot0085" width="244" height="324" /></a></p>
<p>There, select the “Light Sensor” :</p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0086.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="Screenshot0086" src="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0086_thumb.jpg" border="0" alt="Screenshot0086" width="244" height="324" /></a></p>
<p>And turn it down to its least value. You’ll notice your screen gets a lot darker :</p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0087.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="Screenshot0087" src="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0087_thumb.jpg" border="0" alt="Screenshot0087" width="244" height="324" /></a></p>
<p>Thats all there is to it !</p>
<p>2. Turn off Bluetooth.</p>
<p>There’s no sense to keeping your Bluetooth switched on, unless you’re transfering some sort of data or paired with a bluetooth headset. When you’re locking down on your battery you’ll want to stay away from doing both. Bluetooth draws a substantial amount of power, so making sure its switched off is always a good idea.</p>
<p>To do this go to your Tools folder in your Menu and select connectivity :</p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0092.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="Screenshot0092" src="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0092_thumb.jpg" border="0" alt="Screenshot0092" width="244" height="324" /></a></p>
<p>In there select Bluetooth :</p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0093.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="Screenshot0093" src="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0093_thumb.jpg" border="0" alt="Screenshot0093" width="244" height="324" /></a></p>
<p>And make sure Bluetooth is switched off :</p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0094.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="Screenshot0094" src="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0094_thumb.jpg" border="0" alt="Screenshot0094" width="244" height="324" /></a></p>
<p>3. Make sure WiFi scanning is off.</p>
<p>If there’s anything more power draining than bluetooth, its WiFi. Many N-series phones these days come with WiFi. If you use WiFi alot, you’ve probably noticed how it eats up battery life.</p>
<p>Your phone can also search for new WiFi hotspots whenever you move to a new area. This is pretty useless if you’re in a place where there is definitely no WiFi or you’re in the middle of nowhere. So switch that WiFi scanning off !</p>
<p>To do this, on your active standby screen navigate to your WiFi shortcut :</p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0095.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="Screenshot0095" src="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0095_thumb.jpg" border="0" alt="Screenshot0095" width="244" height="324" /></a></p>
<p>And make sure it says “WLAN scanning off“. If its on, select it and on the menu that pops up, select “Switch WLAN scan off” :</p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0096.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="Screenshot0096" src="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0096_thumb.jpg" border="0" alt="Screenshot0096" width="244" height="324" /></a></p>
<p>4. Set your power saver timeout to its least value.</p>
<p>When you’re trying to save battery, you want your power saver mode to kick in as soon as possible. The N80’s screen would go completely blank and the only way you’d know the device was still on, was by the blinking LED light. The E71 does the same, and if you hold the center button down for a few seconds, the screen briefly turns back on to show your the date and time. On the N82 and N95, power saver mode is basically just the date and time screensaver. You can also set text or an image as a screensaver but the date and time one is the least battery draining of them all.</p>
<p>To do this, navigate to the same place as step 1 above and instead of selecting light sensor, select Power Saver Timeout :</p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0088.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="Screenshot0088" src="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0088_thumb.jpg" border="0" alt="Screenshot0088" width="244" height="324" /></a></p>
<p>And set it to its least value :</p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0089.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="Screenshot0089" src="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0089_thumb.jpg" border="0" alt="Screenshot0089" width="244" height="324" /></a></p>
<p>Select OK and that’s it.</p>
<p>5. Set your light timeout to its least value.</p>
<p>What more can i say here… Lights takes power , so switch them off when they’re not needed. If you set your phone’s light timeout to its least value, the backlight will switch off faster which means less battery drainage.</p>
<p>To do this, navigate to the same place as in step 1 but instead of selecting light sensor, scroll down and select Light Time-out :</p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0091.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="Screenshot0091" src="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0091_thumb.jpg" border="0" alt="Screenshot0091" width="244" height="324" /></a></p>
<p>Select it and set it to its least value :</p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0090.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="Screenshot0090" src="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0090_thumb.jpg" border="0" alt="Screenshot0090" width="244" height="324" /></a></p>
<p>6. Set your phone’s profile to “Offline” when you dont need to make/receive calls.</p>
<p>When you’re roaming,or your signal is low, your phone is constantly trying to grab a signal from a matching network. This takes a lot of power. Even in normal everyday use, your phone uses some power to communicate with the network. If you dont really expect to call/receive calls from anyone, switch your phone to the Offline profile. This is basically Flight mode, where you can use all the basic features of your symbian device, except calling and network related features.</p>
<p>If you absolutely must be connected, switch your phone to its silent profile and turn vibration off. This way it wastes no extra power to blare your ringtone and vibrate when someone calls. Anything that saves power is good in this case.</p>
<p>To do this, simply navigate to your profiles via your menu or power button (on shortpress) and select the Offline Profile :</p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0097.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="Screenshot0097" src="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0097_thumb.jpg" border="0" alt="Screenshot0097" width="244" height="324" /></a></p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0098.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="Screenshot0098" src="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0098_thumb.jpg" border="0" alt="Screenshot0098" width="244" height="324" /></a></p>
<p>7. Lay off the gaming, music or data transfers.</p>
<p>Gaming requires constant button pressing, sounds and the backlight is always on. Music is less demanding but your device is still using power to pump out that song that you’re listening to. Transfering data by WiFi or bluetooth is also another battery drainer. Try to refrain from these if you’re trying to save battery.</p>
<p>8. Lay off the GPS.</p>
<p>Many new N-series and E-Series phones nowadays, come with GPS built in. While this feature might be useful, when its a huge battery drainer. I usually only use my N82’s GPS to find out where exactly I am , or to tag a photo or two and then switch the GPS off. There’s no sense to keeping it on, unless you have a power source around.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0099.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="Screenshot0099" src="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0099_thumb.jpg" border="0" alt="Screenshot0099" width="244" height="324" /></a></p>
<p>On the N82, you might also want to make sure the “record location” feature under the camera application is switched off. This feature searches for a GPS signal and tags your pictures with the co-ordinates. While an incredibly useful and cool feature, when you’re trying to save battery life it makes sense to turn it off.</p>
<p>To do this, open your camera application :</p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0102.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="Screenshot0102" src="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0102_thumb.jpg" border="0" alt="Screenshot0102" width="324" height="244" /></a></p>
<p>Go to options then select settings :</p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0103.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="Screenshot0103" src="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0103_thumb.jpg" border="0" alt="Screenshot0103" width="324" height="244" /></a></p>
<p>And make sure Record Location is switched off :</p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0101.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="Screenshot0101" src="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0101_thumb.jpg" border="0" alt="Screenshot0101" width="324" height="244" /></a></p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0100.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="Screenshot0100" src="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0100_thumb.jpg" border="0" alt="Screenshot0100" width="324" height="244" /></a></p>
<p>9. Make sure there are no background Applications running.</p>
<p>You phone is like a computer with RAM. Anything running in the background takes up memory and hence uses power. You’d be suprised how much power a simple application, running in the background, can take.<br />
Hold down your menu key for a few seconds to bring up your task manager and make sure there are no extra applications running in your phone.</p>
<p>10. Lock your Keypad.</p>
<p>Accidental button presses means the lights of your phone come back on, or your phone might accidentally dial out, or an application might be opened , etc.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0104.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="Screenshot0104" src="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Screenshot0104_thumb.jpg" border="0" alt="Screenshot0104" width="244" height="324" /></a></p>
<p>I always lock my keypad to prevent stuff like this from happening. Its a major simple and effective power saver. On your symbian phone you can press the left selection key and the * key to lock your keypad (In the N95 its the left selection key and then the right selection key. In the N81 you must use your keypad lock switch at the top of the device).</p>
<p>Hope that helps ! Have any other battery saving tips that I’ve missed out on ? Let me know in the comments section ! And if you have other tips feel free to add them in the comments as well. Happy Nokia-ing around <img src='http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> In the end its important that our <a href="http://www.phones4u.co.uk/">mobile phones</a> are always charge and ready for action.</p>

<p><strong>Blogging </strong>has become a viral event all over the world, a new blog is created every few minutes. Among the some of the majors providers are Blogger, Drupal, Typepad, Joomla, and my favorite off course, <strong>WordPress</strong>. <span id="more-7143"></span>So how do we blog with our <strong>S60 Smartphones</strong>, well, all the major blogging services support blogging via email and still some of them even have mobile web versions but none of the aforementioned options are as good and offer a complete blogging experience as <strong>Worbmobi</strong>.<strong>Wordmobi</strong> is written in <strong>Python</strong> by <a href="http://code.google.com/p/wordmobi/">Marcelo Barros</a> which we interviewed recently here at Nokia Mobile Talk</p>
<ul>
<li><a href="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/2009/04/interview-with-wordmobis-developer-marcelo-barros/">Part 1</a></li>
<li><a href="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/2009/05/wordmobi-interview/">Part 2</a></li>
</ul>
<p>So its written in Python, what does this mean exactly some may ask yourselves which is a very valid question, since we see the term Python thrown around quite often. Well, Python is a native Symbian programming language which allows developers to produce native applications to run on our beloved smartphones(Nokia&#8217;s link for further reading: <a href="http://www.forum.nokia.com/Tools_Docs_and_Code/Tools/Runtimes/Python_for_S60/">click here</a>). So since Wordmobi is written in Python, the first we have to do is install Python. Currently there are two version of Python: <strong>PythonForS60 1.4.5</strong> and <strong>PythonForS60 1.9.2</strong> PythonForS60 1.4.5 supports devices like the <strong>N95 8gb</strong> and the <strong>E71</strong>, while PythonForS60 1.9.2 supports FP2 devices like the <strong>Nokia XM 5800</strong> and the eventual N97. At the present mome nt Marcelo is doing intensive testing to have the XM 5800 fully workable with PythonForS60 1.9.2(you can read about this <a href="http://wordmobi.wordpress.com/2009/04/24/testing-wordmobi-for-nokia-xm-5800-iii/">here</a>). Download version 1.4.5 <a href="http://downloads.sourceforge.net/pys60/PythonForS60_1_4_5_3rdEd.sis">here</a> Download version 1.9.2 <a href="https://garage.maemo.org/frs/download.php/5325/Python_1.9.2_3rdEd.sis">here</a> So once you download the Python component, we&#8217;re ready to download and install Wordmobi. <strong>Stable Version</strong> Download Wordmobi 0.7.0 for Python 1.4.5 <a href="http://wordmobi.googlecode.com/files/Wordmobi-0.7.0.sis">here</a> Download Worbmobi 0.7.0 for Python 1.9.2 <a href="http://wordmobi.googlecode.com/files/Wordmobi-0.7.0-py19.sis">here</a> <strong>Most Recent Beta</strong> with Tag Support(I&#8217;m running this version) Download Worbmobi 0.8.0 RC2 for Python 1.4.5 <a href="http://wordmobi.googlecode.com/files/Wordmobi-0.8.0-RC2.sis">here</a></p>
<blockquote>
<h3>Two Part Installation Process. 1st install Python then a version of Wordmobi</h3>
</blockquote>
<p>Ok here is the first thing you&#8217;ll see once you go to your installation folder in your</p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/blognokia.jpg"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="blognokia" src="http://www.nokia-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/blognokia_thumb.jpg" border="0" alt="blognokia" width="324" height="244" /></a></p>
<blockquote>
<h3>FYI: you won&#8217;t see an icon for the Python portion of the setup in the Installation folder</h3>
</blockquote>
<blockquote><p>Well this should get you started, <strong>To be continued this week</strong></p></blockquote>
<p>So let your imagination go wild and creative on your <a href="http://www.dialaphone.co.uk/">mobile phones</a> and blog away, Wordmobi takes care of the rest. Cheers</p>
<h2>Update from Marcelo</h2>
<p>Thanks for starting the tutorial. I would like to suggest to use newer versions: Python 1.9.5 and wordmobi 0.8.1: <a href="http://wordmobi.googlecode.com/files/Python_1.9.5.sis">http://wordmobi.googlecode.com/files/Python_1.9.5.sis</a> <a href="http://wordmobi.googlecode.com/files/Wordmobi-0.8.1-py19.sis">http://wordmobi.googlecode.com/files/Wordmobi-0.8.1-py19.sis</a> And for python 1.4.5: <a href="http://wordmobi.googlecode.com/files/Wordmobi-0.8.1.sis">http://wordmobi.googlecode.com/files/Wordmobi-0.8.1.sis</a> Thanks !</p>

<p>Just cruising twitter late last night, yes I’m a twitter addict, and I stumbled on a tweet from <a href="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/2009/07/interview-with-mark-guim-from-the-nokia-blog/" target="_blank">Mark Guim</a> from “<a href="http://howardforums.com/showpost.php?p=12833671&amp;postcount=4" target="_blank">The Nokia&#160; Blog</a>” who shared a very nice and convenient tip on how to upload photos to a specific Flickr Set and I just wanted to share it with you all, so you can put it into practice immediately, I know I did. This to me is invaluable and just makes me love <a href="http://www.pixelpipe.com/" target="_blank">Pixelpipe</a> even more.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/Flickrlogo.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="Flickr-logo" border="0" alt="Flickr-logo" src="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/Flickrlogo_thumb.jpg" width="254" height="102" /></a> </p>
<p><strong>Mark says</strong> </p>
<p>Step 1. Add pixelpipe to Nokia Share Online. </p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/pixelpipe.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="pixelpipe_512x512" border="0" alt="pixelpipe_512x512" src="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/pixelpipe_thumb.jpg" width="154" height="154" /></a> </p>
<p> <span id="more-4592"></span>
</p>
<p>Step 2. Add Flickr (as one of the 95 destinations!!!!) <br />Step 3. Change the flickr settings to upload photo to specific set. Screenshot below.</p>
<p>&#160;</p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/pixelpipesetup.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="pixelpipe setup" border="0" alt="pixelpipe setup" src="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/pixelpipesetup_thumb.jpg" width="304" height="188" /></a></p>

<p>So there you have it, I can vouch for this setup it works like a charm, I just setup my Nokia E71 and Nokia N95 8GB with this little jewel of a tutorial, thanks for sharing this with the community Mark <img src='http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>

		</div>
<p><strong>Blogging </strong>has become a viral event all over the world, a new blog is created every few minutes. Among the some of the majors providers are Blogger, Drupal, Typepad, Joomla, and my favorite off course, <strong>WordPress</strong>. So how do we blog with our <strong>S60 Smartphones</strong><span id="more-2447"></span>, well, all the major blogging services support blogging via email and still some of them even have mobile web versions but none of the aforementioned options are as good and offer a complete blogging experience as <strong>Worbmobi</strong>.<!--more--></p>
<p>&nbsp;<br />
<strong>Wordmobi</strong> is written in <strong>Python</strong> by <a href="http://code.google.com/p/wordmobi/">Marcelo Barros</a> which we interviewed recently here.</p>
<ul>
<li><a href="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/2009/04/interview-with-wordmobis-developer-marcelo-barros/">Part 1</a></li>
<li><a href="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/2009/05/wordmobi-interview/">Part 2</a></li>
</ul>
So since Wordmobi is written in Python, the first we have to do is install Python.</p>
<p>Currently there are two version of Python: <strong>PythonForS60 1.4.5</strong> and <strong>PythonForS60 1.9.2</strong> </p>
<p>PythonForS60 1.4.5 supports devices like the <strong>N95 8gb</strong> and the <strong>E71</strong>, while PythonForS60 1.9.2 supports FP2 devices like the <strong>Nokia XM 5800</strong> and the eventual N97. At the present moment Marcelo is doing intensive testing to have the XM 5800 fully workable with PythonForS60 1.9.2(you can read about this <a href="http://wordmobi.wordpress.com/2009/04/24/testing-wordmobi-for-nokia-xm-5800-iii/">here</a>).</p>
<p>Download version 1.4.5 <a href="http://downloads.sourceforge.net/pys60/PythonForS60_1_4_5_3rdEd.sis">here</a><br />
Download version 1.9.2 <a href="https://garage.maemo.org/frs/download.php/5325/Python_1.9.2_3rdEd.sis">here</a></p>
<p>So once you download the Python component, we&#8217;re ready to download and install Wordmobi. </p>
<p><strong>Stable Version</strong><br />
Download Wordmobi 0.7.0 for Python 1.4.5 <a href="http://wordmobi.googlecode.com/files/Wordmobi-0.7.0.sis">here</a><br />
Download Worbmobi 0.7.0 for Python 1.9.2 <a href="http://wordmobi.googlecode.com/files/Wordmobi-0.7.0-py19.sis">here</a><br />
&nbsp;<br />
<strong>Most Recent Beta</strong> with Tag Support(I&#8217;m running this version)<br />
Download Worbmobi 0.8.0 RC2 for Python 1.4.5 <a href="http://wordmobi.googlecode.com/files/Wordmobi-0.8.0-RC2.sis">here</a></p>
<blockquote><h3>Two Part Installation Process. 1st install Python then a version of Wordmobi</h3>
</blockquote>
<p> Ok here is the first thing you&#8217;ll see once you go to your installation folder in your</p>
<p><a href="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/scr0001311.jpg"><img src="http://www.nokiamobiletalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/scr0001311.jpg" alt="scr0001311" title="scr0001311" width="320" height="240" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-2864" /></a></p>
<blockquote><h3>FYI: you won&#8217;t see an icon for the Python portion of the setup in the Installation folder</h3>
</blockquote>
<p>Well this should get you started, <strong>To be continued this week</strong></p>
<h2>Update from Marcelo</h2>
<p>Thanks for starting the tutorial.<br />
I would like to suggest to use newer versions:</p>
<p>Python 1.9.5 and wordmobi 0.8.1:</p>
<p><a href="http://wordmobi.googlecode.com/files/Python_1.9.5.sis">http://wordmobi.googlecode.com/files/Python_1.9.5.sis</a><br />
<a href="http://wordmobi.googlecode.com/files/Wordmobi-0.8.1-py19.sis">http://wordmobi.googlecode.com/files/Wordmobi-0.8.1-py19.sis</a></p>
<p>And for python 1.4.5:</p>
<p><a href="http://wordmobi.googlecode.com/files/Wordmobi-0.8.1.sis">http://wordmobi.googlecode.com/files/Wordmobi-0.8.1.sis</a></p>
<p>Thanks !</p>
